Problem with HP-UX 11.31 and Xiotech Emprise 7000
Below is some information from the problem server. I am trying to determine what we may need to do to resolve this problem. This is a show stopper for our Oracle 10g RAC migration.
Thanks for any input.

Re: Problem with HP-UX 11.31 and Xiotech Emprise 7000
according to the third party mass storage connectivity matrix, Xiotech storage is not supported:
http://www.hp.com/products1/serverconnectivity/mass_storage_devices.html
even if your setup would otherwise work, it is not advisable to run production systems in an unsupported configuration because you might have trouble getting support from HP, should anything go wrong.

Re: Problem with HP-UX 11.31 and Xiotech Emprise 7000
Thanks for the input. However, it does not give me any assistance with resolving my problem. I understand that this SAN hardware is not supported. I am simply looking for ideas on how I might get this working like it is on my rp3400s.

What do you mean by updating the WWNs? Can you give me an example?

Re: Problem with HP-UX 11.31 and Xiotech Emprise 7000
by updating the WWNs it is meant to present the LUNS to WWNs of the newly added adapters.
What kind of HBAs do you have in your rp3400 series ? Are they also A6795A ?
The fact that the configuration is not supported might also hint a solution to your problem. Sometimes unsupported hardware simply does not recognize its surroundings and one cannot do anything about it.

Re: Problem with HP-UX 11.31 and Xiotech Emprise 7000
I understand. We have the A6795A in one of the rp3400s and the A5158A in the other. They both are working without issue. They are however running 11.11 and 11.23 respectively. I am completely aware of the support issue but this configuration is working on my other servers just fine. Maybe removing the additional paths could be a good start. The rp3400s do not have multiple paths. What do you think?

Re: Problem with HP-UX 11.31 and Xiotech Emprise 7000
The fact that HP does not mention the Xiotech as supported does not mean that the Xiotech array will not work under HP-UX. At most it means that HP did not test it officially. On the other side the array vendor claims that their products will work under HP-UX. http://www.xiotech.com/Products-and-Services_ISE_Emprise-7000.aspx
It looks like the FC cards do have link and are set correctly in the PTTOPT_FABRIC topology. In any case do check your SAN zoning and the LUN maping on the array.
Does ioscan -fnC disk show anything? Did the LUNs possibly get converted to the new 11.31 disk layout?
