Problems on the MSA1500cs

I have a LUN in the MSA1500cs of 600Gbytes and when I'm going to format this LUN by the Windows disk Management I can't see the new disk of 600Gb. When I type show this_controller in the CLI of MSA1500cs I saw that surface scan is running, this is the cause or no? What Can I do??

Re: Problems on the MSA1500cs

It's not surface scan.

Perhaps you had SSP(ACL) setup and forgot to assign that LUN to the server.

Did you presented to your Windows host? If you havem, I noticed sometime it will take up to 15 minutes for the Windows server to see it.

Thanks for your answers, the problem was that ACL was Enable, I only needed to Disable the ACL and the Windows knew the LUN.

Hello Guga,

did you try a rescan in the disk management of windows? Go to the computer management and open the disk management. Now click with the right mouse button on "Disk Management" and do a rescan.

If the LUN doesn't appear, check the eventlogs.

Re: Problems on the MSA1500cs

Guga,
SSP and ACL are the same thing. ACU calls it Selective Storage Presentation (SSP), the MSA cli calls it ACL. You should still set it. With out it set, servers will try to claim any and all LUNs. Which could potentially lead to future problems.
