Hello,
I have an EVA.
* Situation 1: I want to create 2 LUNs
- 2 Disks of 300 GB
- 2 Disks of 500 GB
- LUN1 with 150 GB and RAID1
- LUN2 with 650 GB and RAID1
Can I create this structure?
* Situation 2: I want to create 2 new LUNs with
- 2 Disks of 300 GB
- 1 Disks of 500 GB
- LUN1 with 150 GB and RAID5
- LUN2 with 150 GB and RAID1
Can I create this structure?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards,
Carles

Solution
No this will not work.
The idea of the EVA is virtualization by having few large Disk Groups (DG).
The minimum size of a DG is 8 disk.
You then carve out your LUNs with individual sizes and and RAID levels as required.
The beaty is the automated striping, DG extensions etc.
So is you have existing DGs add the new disks to the existing DGs and create your LUNs.
Note:
1. You cannot mix FC and FATA drives in a DG
2. You can have different disk sizes in a DG. However I recommend having the same sizes only in a group.
For more detailed description see the EVA best practices guide on the HP SWD Whitepaper page: http://h18004.www1.hp.com/storage/arraywhitepapers.html
For the EVA3/5000 http://h71028.www7.hp.com/ERC/downloads/5982-9140EN.pdf
Fore the EVA4/6/8000 http://h71028.www7.hp.com/ERC/downloads/4AA0-2787ENW.pdf
Cheers
Peter
