Re: RE:// Trunking in San

ISL trunking is a proprietary feature of Brocade. It allows the bundling of up to 8 ISL to form a big pipe.
Read the B-Series FOS 6.x Administrator Guide Chapter "Administering ISL trunking" to be found on http://docs.hp.com/ > Storage Solutions > SAN Infrastructure > B-Series > any switch > manuals

ISL trunks are transparent to servers and storage where other options like DLS or Exchange based routing are not.

Re: RE:// Trunking in San

hi,

port on demand is a pay-as-you-go type feature , you get a license to activate a number of ports to use when you need them

Re: RE:// Trunking in San

POD is especially useful on blade switches.

The Brocade blade switches do have 24 physical ports; 16 wired to the C-class backpalne and 8 external as uplinks. When you buy it as 4/12 or 8/12 you get a license to use any 12 of these 24 ports - this could be 8 internal or 4 external ports for example or any other combination!

Pete
