During an update of SAN Switches in our fabric we encountered loss of connections on some of the Servers connected to the SAN/EVA (HSV300 & HSV340)
We narrowed the problem to the MPIO Settings which are set differently on the servers, probably by default during initial installation.
But now we wonder what are the recommended MPIO Policies ?
Servers are W2k3 and W2k8R2, all connected with 2 paths to the SAN, one is running MS Exchange, another MS SQL.
Possible policies are :
For W2k3 Servers the Options are : Round Robin, Shortest Queue Bytes, Shortest Queue Requests and Shortest Queue Service Time.
For W2k8 Servers the Options are : Fail Over Only, Round Robin, Round Robin with Subset, Least Queue Depth, Weighted Paths and Least Blocks.
Please advice

Re: Recommended MPIO Policy for EVA ?
Round robin policy will work without any issues, if the lun(vdisk) prefresence is set to "no_preference" in EVA.
But I am aware of another issue while Upgrading to FOS v7.1.x causes path loss to EVA storage, rebooting the switches will fix the issue.

Re: Recommended MPIO Policy for EVA ?
We tried to follow the "non disruptive" upgrade path mentioned here :
http://www.guldmyr.com/blog/brocade-san-switch-firmware-upgrades/
But the loss of connection happend way early from 6.2.2 to 6.3.2 and again going to 6.4.3.
Also, it looked like not all connected Systems had problems.
Vdisk Setting Preferred path/mode is set to no preference.
Strange ...

SolutionFirmware Version on the EVA is 09534000 Build CR18CBlep09534000
And ALB was disabled on one of the Servers.
So actually, this is the Solution.
Either upgrade the EVA Controller Firmware, enable ALB and/or deal with the Downtime ...
Thanks for the help :)
