Reinstalling CommandView 1.09 SDM

Hello,
I have a VA7400 running CVM 1.09. When running the Launcher executable, Lun sizes, the number of luns, security etc..., is shown, I need to reinstall commandview without losing this information. Is there a file, somewhere on HPUX, that I need to move or rename in order to retain the current configuration?

Re: Reinstalling CommandView 1.09 SDM

The config is directly taken from the array. Just install the current version A.01.09.02 from www.hp.com/go/bsc -> storage software

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Do you know if it is necessary to uninstall the old version before the new installation?

Re: Reinstalling CommandView 1.09 SDM

yes, When I do a TOP command there is a java process which seems to take up to 100% of a
processor. To do a ps -ef | grep PID number on this process points to Java attached to CommandView. I thought by reinstalling the software what ever was wrong would be corrected.

Even a fresh installation needs some java patches, so go ahead and patch java:

Hope this helps!

Re: Reinstalling CommandView 1.09 SDM

When I to a ps -ef | grep PID of the java process I receive this:

/opt/sanmgr/jre/bin/IA64N/java -DHAGT=1 -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true -cp classes/jcore.jar:classes/hostagent.jar:../cssi/Log

This is the process that is sucking up alot of my cpu time. Which version of java does this tell me to update?

From user guide:

CV SDM 1.09.01 delivers version 1.4.2 of the Java Runtime Environment for
all HP-UX versions. You must install the relevant Java 1.4.2 patches for each
HP-UX version from the following site:
http://www.hp.com/products1/unix/java/patches/index.html
Refer to the HP web site for the latest patch bundle information.

Hope this helps!
