SAN Switch Firmwaredownload failed

I want to update as for SAN Switch 4/16.

Update fails.
It is possible to connect it from other ftp clients.
What is the problem?

You can always try downloading from the below link.

At the download page click on "Release Notes" tab and go to "Upgrade Recommendation" and you can also check for "Prerequisites" on the same page

Re: SAN Switch Firmwaredownload failed

Hi,

Seems that you are updating from fw version 5.0.1B to version 6.2.2d. This update is not possible since HP does not support directly upgrading from more than two previous releases.

For example, upgrading from Fabric OS 5.0.x to 5.2.3 is supported, but upgrading from Fabric OS 4.4.0 or a previous release directly to 5.2.3 is not.

So in the above update you need to follow the following update path:

1. From Fabric OS 5.0.1b upgrade to 5.2.3.

2. From FOS 5.2.3 upgrade to v5.3.1a

3. From FOS 5.3.1a upgrade to 6.0.0b

Steps 2 and 3 are one level updates as This is a change in policy from prior releases, where ├в 2-level├в migrations were supported. The new policy to support only ├в 1-level├в migration has been implemented to provide more reliable and robust migrations for customers. By having fewer major changes in internal databases, configurations, and subsystems, the system is able to perform the upgrade more efficiently, taking less time and ensuring a truly seamless and non-disruptive process for the fabric.

4. Then from FOS 6.0.0b you can just update to 6.1.2b and then to 6.2.2d.

To achieve the above you can download and chk the release notes from the link : http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=1143933&prodTypeId=12169&prodSeriesId=1143930&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=54#290

Note: To get FOS versions 5.2.3 and 6.0.0b you will have a log a call with HP support as it is not externally available.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Prakash

Re: SAN Switch Firmwaredownload failed

I learned from experience to do firmware upgrades in order. I don't even skip two of them. I had a HP switch that required me to reset to factory from the com port and do the upgrade from 4800 buad com port. I lost two fiber HBAs jumping firmware.

Backup your configuration before any firmware upgrades in case you have to blank the device and start over or HP needs to replace it under Carepaq.
