Server connected to MSA 1000 and EVA 4400

Is it possible to connect a Windows 2003 server to an MSA1000 and EVA4400 at the same time?. The server would have 4 HBA ports, 2 connected to the MSA1000 (Active/Passive)and 2 connected to the EVA4400.
And also would the Multipath failover work with both SANs?

Re: Server connected to MSA 1000 and EVA 4400

Hi,
there is the table "Microsoft Windows multipathing coexistence support" in the SAN design guide:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00403562/c00403562.pdf?jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

according to it, the MSA1000 A/P and EVA4400 MPIOs coexistence is not supported, but the Secure Path for MSA1000 A/P and the MPIO DSM FF for EVA4400 is supported...

Hello,

you can upgrade the MSA to A/A firmware and use MPIO FF with appropriate DSMs.

Re: Server connected to MSA 1000 and EVA 4400

Thanks IBaltay & Patrick for your input. I am still confused after reading the Design PDF. I see on table 91 on page 200 that MSA1000 in coexistence support works only with single controller but then below on the table 92 on page 202 I see MPIO FF is supported on both MSA1000 A/A and EVA 4400. So I am not sure if the server with MPIO FF will it will actually work when connected to MSA1000 (Dual controller Active/Active) and EVA4400 (Dual controller)

Hi,
check also the SPOCK for the compatibility:

Abstract from the Supported MPIO DSM FF v3.02.00 configurations:
MSA1000/1500 Active/Active Microsoft Windows Server 2003 IA32 (Build 3790)
