Stability EVA4400 vs EVA6400

We have two EVA's 4400 with HSV300-s controllers in a CA setup (50kms) apart from eachother.

Our experience with the EVA4400 is very bad! Today, again, both EVA's experience lots of troubles on a management level... both CV-EVA GUI's lost communication again and again we're talking to HP.... bla bla...

We are seriously thinking of upgrading the EVA4400 to a 6400... but what's the difference in stability... is it again a crappy system? or is the 4400 the only one in the EVA range?

What's your opinion? We need a super stable SAN... and up till now... I'm kind a affraid for what's coming...

Re: Stability EVA4400 vs EVA6400

The only problem is Command View losing communication to the EVAs? Hosts can access their disks? From the Command View in the management module you can access the EVA?

Try to create zones that include only one port of each EVA. One EVA port and one host port, or one port from one EVA and another port from the other EVA.

Re: Stability EVA4400 vs EVA6400

Yep... we did that already.
And also
- upgraded everything to the latest FW version (switches, controllers, mpx's, servers, hba's, ...)
- Had an HP consultant onsite to check everything
- Paid HP to create a SAN healtcheck which was unanymously... "best practice followed"

But still... crappy.

So, my question is if the 6400 has the same issues as the 4400.

Then you'll have to fight to get the new firmware version (0953xxxx) ahead of it's general release, because this is a known firmware bug affecting EVA4400/6400/8400.

Re: Stability EVA4400 vs EVA6400

That's a possibility... but we want to wait until official release... otherwise we need to upgrade twice.

Didn't know the issue was for the complete EVA range... oops.

We need a super stable SAN ... have a look, but maybe a bit over sized for you:

Hope this helps!
