Re: Upgrade To XCS 6.220

Hi, no you could probably call HP anyway even though you are out of support and ask if they can provide you with the firmware.

To find out what model you have, when you log on to the WEBGui you can see the "switchtype" and a number after. This corresponds to a specific switch type. 34 for example is the 200E or the 4/16 or 4/8 if I don't remember wrongly.

"Hi, no you could probably call HP anyway even though you are out of support and ask if they can provide you with the firmware. "

That has been my experience with out-of-support hardware.

Call them up... open a ticket, you should get access to the firmware, but it may take longer than usual since there is no guarantee for immediate support. HP Service is generally helpful and they work with any situation, when/where possible.

You are asking about the *model* of your switch?

Hope this helps!

Re: Upgrade To XCS 6.220

Thanks folks,

I will can HP now.

Someone wrote in HP forums the following :

Fabric OS 6.4.0a is supported on the following product models:
├Г┬в├В ├В┬в HP StorageWorks 4/32 SAN Switch (Brocade 4100)
├Г┬в├В ├В┬в HP StorageWorks 4/32B SAN Switch (Brocade 5000)
├Г┬в├В ├В┬в HP StorageWorks 4/64 SAN Switch (Brocade 4900)
├Г┬в├В ├В┬в HP StorageWorks 4/256 SAN Director (Brocade 48000)
10
├Г┬в├В ├В┬в HP StorageWorks 16 Port 4-Gb SAN Director Blade (FC4-16)
├Г┬в├В ├В┬в HP StorageWorks 32 Port 4-Gb SAN Director Blade (FC4-32)
├Г┬в├В ├В┬в HP StorageWorks 48 Port 4-Gb SAN Director Blade (FC4-48)

So, I need to know the type of my SAN switch.

I far as I know it's HP StorageWorks 4/32 SAN Switch PowerPack

Re: Upgrade To XCS 6.220

The naming is a bit difficult, because there are the several HP vs. Brocade names, but if you search the HP driver site for "HP StorageWorks 4/32 switch" you will find:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=12169&prodSeriesId=3414314&swItem=co-84474-1&prodNameId=3414315&swEnvOID=54&swLang=8&taskId=135&mode=4&idx=0

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Upgrade To XCS 6.220

The front of the switch should tell you what the model is.

It is stamped usually in the upper left cornor or close to the left cornor.

I have 2 4/32's and that is where it is.

You can also look at the web gui, the initial page should display the model.
