Use P2000 SAS controller as expansion tray

Hi,

is it possible to use a P2000 SAS dual controller (AW593B) as an expansion shelf for a P2000 FC controller (AP845B)  using the FC controllers SAS expansion port?  If  so, what configuration is required?

I have cabled them up as you would a normal expansion tray, but each enclosure comes up with an ID of 1, and the FC controller only see's itself.

Many thanks for any help

Neil

No you cannot make a single P2000 from 2 P2000, the chassis needs other controllers.

From quickspec:

HP P2000 LFF Drive Enclosure I/O Module

AP844B

HP D2700 Disk Enclosure

Hope this helps!

Since the AW593B is the LFF chassis, I believe you can replace the SAS controllers with LFF Drive Enclosure I/O modules (part # AP844B) to make the P2000 into a "dumb" enclosure shelf, which I'm fairly sure you could use in the way you're trying to.

However, it won't work with the pre-installed SAS controllers, that's for certain.
