Volume Extension on a SAN.

I want to increase a volume on a server that has 3 partitions, 1st is 10GB, 2nd is 150 GB 3rd is 190GB and the entire volume is 350GB on SAN. What i want to achieve is the increase in the volume of the 1st partition which is 10GB. If i increase the volume on the SAN, how am i sure that it is the 10GB partition that will be increased or how do i increase the 10GB partition?

I await your response on this.

Thank you.

Re: Volume Extension on a SAN.

You need to provide information on the operating system that the server is running because the partitions are a software structure, not hardware.

Also, what kind of disk enclosure the server is connected to.

Re: Volume Extension on a SAN.

The server is running win 2003 server enterprise edition connected with EVA 5000 12 enclosure.

Thank you.

Re: Volume Extension on a SAN.

Hi, in Wintel the EVA extended partition part becomes as an unallocated space and these extends needs to be added via the diskpart command to expand the whole partition on the OS level:
