W2K3EE, MPIO Basic, EVA5K

Hi - I am running the above. I can see 4 paths to the disks in Device Manager (actually 4 disks for each LUN), but don't see anything in Disk Manager. This configuration worked with Secure Path - I removed it and installed MPIO.

Any hints?

Re: W2K3EE, MPIO Basic, EVA5K

Gary,

You mean you see 4 "hidden" disks for each disk? You have enabled "show hidden devices" in device manager's view menu?

Do you run sp1?

Anything in the eventlogs?

Re: W2K3EE, MPIO Basic, EVA5K

I do have Show Hidden Devices checked in device manager and it is 4 hidden disks per each LUN.

I do have SP1

Is there a DSM needed for this configuration?

Oppps - I left out one - there is no mention in the event logs, as far as I can tell.

Gary:

Any reason why you swapped SP with Basic MPIO? Was SP not working properly? Your probably better off staying with SP on your existing servers rather that swapping and using MPIO on any new servers.

Since you now have Basic MPIO, there is no way to see which paths you are seeing as there is no interface to the DSM.

Can you clear your event logs, reboot the machine... then attach a saved copy of them (after the servers comes back up) to a message here so we can look at them?

What version of VCS are you at on your EVA5000?

Re: W2K3EE, MPIO Basic, EVA5K

I installed MPIO since I am going to be doing an install in a few weeks that is going to use it and want to see it work first..

I am at 3.025 VCS on the EVA.

I included the event logs from the system and a screen shot of Device Manager with one path of the EVA LUN expanded. There are 4 EVA disks there - they = one LUN. But it does not show in Disk Manager.

Re: W2K3EE, MPIO Basic, EVA5K

Can you attach a screen cap of Disk Administrator?

Can you also expand out some other device groupings...? Specifically "SCSI and RAID Controllers" and "Storage Volumes".

Re: W2K3EE, MPIO Basic, EVA5K

Here it is - thanks for taking an interest in this. I noticed in the SCSI controllers a Multipath driver - I did not notice that before... Not that that helps anything.

Re: W2K3EE, MPIO Basic, EVA5K

How many Virtual Disks are presented to the server? just 1? or more?
