Windows Server 2008 R2 connected to EVA 4400 with FC

Hi all,

I've connected two physical servers with FC (dual port) to an EVA 4400 SAN. Windows Server 2008 R2 is running on the servers. One LUN(diskvolume) is created. This diskvolume should work as a shared storage.
Configured on the SAN:
- Created a vDisk
- Raid 5
- Diskspace is set to 100GB
- Presented for two servers.

When I login to one of my servers and start Server Manager - Storage - Disk Management and Rescan Disks. 4 disks is detected. Why?
I was expected to see one shared disk.
Could it be configuration errors from my side or how do I correct it?

Kind regards,
TL

Probably because you have not configured/installed any multipathing software... in your case it should be HP MPIO for EVA.

Uff, you need to read a lot about SAN

1) You see 4 disks because there are 4 paths to the disk. You need to install MPIO multipath driver to take care of that.

2) Two windows severs cannot access the same disk simultaneously, unless you configure them as cluster.

I've installed multipath feature that comes with Windows Server 2008 R2, but obviously I need to install the driver from HP? Thanks for you input.

I'm pretty much in the same boat here. I did install the hp mio driver in 2003 and only saw 1 disk. But I thought the one built into windows 2008 actually replaces hp's? Is this not the case? And .... should I have them both installed or should I remove microsoft's before I install hp's?
