XCS 10.000.00?

Hi,

just received a newsletter about the ancouncement of EVA P6000 that also states that XCS 10.000.00 for current EVA 4x,6x,8x is now available. However, so far I haven't found anything.

Do you know when this will be out?

What newsletter? Google doesn't mention this firmware anywhere but here.

Also as far as I can tell it's not really HP's practice to let customers know on exactly what date something will be available.. I suppose there is a lot of testing done on the firmwares.

All the other EVA firmwares are available on http://software.hp.com

Zur Einführung der fünften Generation des HP EVA haben wir für Sie auch eine spezielle Aktion.
Bei dem Kauf eines P6000 EVA Modells erhalten Sie für alte HP Array Systeme und Arrays anderer Hersteller einen Rückkaufwert, der von der Ausstattung des Neusystems abhängt. Ah cool, that makes more sense.

The x400 (4400, 6400, 8400) will apparently get the same firmware, not the older ones.

Oh, well....

Reminds me about a little 'talk' with a colleague who was in a sales brainwash and came back claiming that the support for CV on the EVA-4400 management module was available *now*.

I was a bit unimpressed ;-)
and told him I wasn't able to see it on any official downloadable documents or download portals, so it *did not* exist for me.

Of course he was a bit unhappy with my response...

And it took many more months before the first release came out - with lots of limitations.


Lean back and relax - or do something useful ;-)

Maybe, but we have no EVA to install test firmware on...

Do you know why the new firmware is named XCS 10.000? I thought that the new naming convention was "09534000" and so on.

This doesn't sound like an invitation to a beta-test...

And 10.000.00 - who know's...

maybe it is a transcription error -
or somebody thought it is time and a great idea to introduce _just another_ version number formatting.

Don't try to understand what's going on in the heads of these people -
treat it like an opaque string.

Maybe it's just to lure customers in, stop them from going to other vendors when there are new features "on the way".

Well 10 is after 09..
10.000.00 is also one number less than 09.534.000 :)
