cache batteries failure

Hi:
There is any possibility for EVA8000 to lose it configuration e.g. WWNN, VDISKs, etc due to cache batteries failure?
Greetings

Re: cache batteries failure

No, all the configuration is stored on the disks, in at least 5 of them.

You can replace both controllers and the new controllers will read the metadata from the disks. Nothing is kept permanently on the controllers.

The batteries are only to keep the data on the RAM cache in case of an unexpected power loss. They can keep it for 3 days.

I have done this. Well, I pulled all disk drives from an EVA4000 system (after shutdown ;-), because I needed the hardware. Later I put the disks in a different EVA4000 - I didn't even care about the drive positions. All data was still there.

And the controllers even upgraded the meta-data from XCS 6.000 to 6.100, although I would not do this on a production system.

Thanks Guys:

I have an EVA8000 with a module failed and I wanted to know the impact of this.
Thanks a lot
