connecting AJ750A storage
In our installation we have one MSA 2000 storage (HP 2212fc DC Enh Modular Smart Array-Part number AJ745A), which is connecting into 2 DL380 servers, with Dual fibber connection as shown in attached photo,
We would like to extend our storage capacity by adding 3 more HP MSA2000 3.5in Dual I/O 12 Drive Encl (part number AJ750A).
My question is how to connect these storages to my primary storage controller,
And I want to keep full redundancy topology in connecting to host but I cannot see any more free fibre ports available in my MSA HP-2212fc controller.
Thanks

Re: connecting AJ750A storage
the drive enclosures will be connected with SAS to the MSA2212fc controller shelf. The first enclosure is attached with two SAS links to the controller enclosure. The second drive enclosure is attached to the first drive enclosure and so on.
Hope this helps.
Best regards,
Patrick

Re: connecting AJ750A storage
my question is, in my MSA 2212fc,
i have 2 fiber ports per controller, so totally 4 ports
and i use these 4 ports to connect 2 DL389 servers, so no free ports available,
so how I will add the new storage,
and I donot use SAS cables to connect storage to Server I use fiber cables only
and is their any configuration guide to show to you will add these into the controller software.

Re: connecting AJ750A storage
you need to connect the disk enclosures to the MSA2212fc. No other way is supported. If you want connect more servers to the MSA2212fc, buy a FC-Switch.

Re: connecting AJ750A storage
you will need fc-switches to connect more then two servers to an MSA2212fc.
You have one MSA2212 and three additional shelfs. But I can see 55 disks (7 SAS 300 GB and 48 SAS 450 GB), but you can only put 48 disks to this system (1+3 shelfs).
Check this doc:
http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01755933/c01755933.pdf
Especially the part "MSA2000fc G2 expansion configurations"
Best regards,
Patrick

Re: connecting AJ750A storage
Recently it was suggested we go with the MSA2012fc and get MSA2000 enclosures over a MSA2024fc. I'm curious if you deployed this solution.
My concern is that I have a fibre network, and I'm investing money for a fc SAN. Why would I or does it matter and/or create a bottle neck at the extra disk SAS disk shelf to the MSA2012fc?
Thanks
