interconnection MSA 1000 and EVA 4400

We are planning on moving all data from an MSA 1000 to an EVA 4400. We have windows hosts connected to the MSA1000's LUNs.

Is it possible to interconnect (Daisy Chain) MSA and EVA switches to make the copy so that the hosts on the MSA see the EVA LUNs?

Hi,
yes, after the zone merge, and the multipathing coexistence is covered in your next thread:

Re: interconnection MSA 1000 and EVA 4400

Thanks for your response IBaltay but I'm still not sure on how I can do this.
Can you help with these ideas below?

1) I'd connect (daisy chain)one side of a FC cable let's say, port 1 on the MSA 2/8 switch then connect the other side to the EVA switch on let's say port 1 as well.
2) The ports on both switch should auto detect and auto configure for E_Port?
3) If I have a server connected to the MSA1000 switch, how will the server be able to get to a LUN in the EVA? or going backwards how will the EVA present one of its LUNs to the server connected to the MSA?

Or could help and explain general steps to achieve this connection?

Re: interconnection MSA 1000 and EVA 4400

Hi,
if you have 2 switches with active zones then here is the zone merger tool:
http://community.brocade.com/home/thread/2654

if the MSA 2/8 does not have the zoning enabled, e.g. this thread could help you:
http://forums13.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?admit=109447627+1243137944228+28353475&threadId=1077190

to resume it:
the main problem is that mostprobably both switches have the same Domain ID, which needs to be changed on one of them (e.g. 2/8). But you need to go offline with the switch (switchdisable) and then enter the command configure and change the domain ID in the fabric setting section...

Re: interconnection MSA 1000 and EVA 4400

1)
yes but first portdisable those ports to have all in your hands and first you need to check the Domain IDs of both switches - they need to be unique)

2)
yes unless they are not set to the fixed speed on any of the 2 switches, then the port on the second must be set on the same speed

3) you need to create new zones for the EVA hosts to see the MSA and vice versa.
