mixing disks

i have a single disk group of 28 Disks. In this i have 18 disks of 300 GB 15K RPM and 10 Disks of 300 GB 10K RPM. So in this scenario, how all the disks will function... all the disks will work in 15K RPM or 10K RPM ???

Re: mixing disks

The data will come off the 15K disks faster than the 10K disks, thats all that will happen. Overall you proabably wont see any performance effect because the EVA stripes the data across all disks, so each read will access all disks in the group and will be completed when the slowest disk completes its task.

Re: mixing disks

so if i have 10k and 15k disks in same disk group..each disk will work on their own speed.

Also 15K disks will not come down to 10K and work... Is it correct

Re: mixing disks

Right. Each disk drive will run with the number of rotations per minute (RPM) it was built for - not faster, not slower.
