newbie needs advice onsetting up a new Win 2008 server from scratch

I am in charge of setting up a new server. It did not come with a monitor and I have to hook it with a desktop monitor. It will be running Win Server 2008 which I need to load on the box, with IIS and running a Coldfusion/Flex application. I have not set up a server before.

I went through the links at

Any advice/suggestions, things I should do and things I should not would be appreciated on setting/deploying a new server from scratch.

What would be an advisable way for backing up the server data which may be about 10GB/month. Should we go for a SAN or NAS? I went through the link at http://www.nas-san.com/differ.html but would appreciate more advice.

Can we keep it in a room which is at room temperature or do we need a one which has 24X7 AC running on? The load will be reasonable with some 220 users connecting to it concurrently.

We cannot outsource to some company or consultant as we do not have the budget. So, I need to learn as much as I can from Web, books set it up, maintain, support it and back it up at regular intervals. Any books/links to help me would be appreciated.

Thanks
