recovery password reset for 4/8 SAN Switch
I send in xterminal:
Press escape within 4 seconds to enter boot interface.
1) Start system. 2) Recover password. 3) Enter command shell. Option? Option `' is not on the menu. 1) Start system. 2) Recover password. 3) Enter command shell.
Option? 2 Recovery password is NOT set. Please set it now. Recovery Password: New password: passwd: Password unchanged. Booting "Fabric Operating System" image. Entry point at 0x01000000 ...
After this password unknown.
Press escape within 4 seconds to enter boot interface. 1) Start system. 2) Recover password. 3) Enter command shell. Option? Option? 2 Send the following string to Customer Support for password recovery: xLOXewu/.luVjaX6JPnR2w== Enter the supplied recovery password. Recovery Password: NUll passwords are not allowed
Please help to delete recovery password.

If you want to use that method you need to get in touch with HP/brocade's support.
Did you try the default password fibranne?
There may be other ways to reset it. Can you get through the command shell? Which FOS is it running?

Switch is used.
Admin/root password in FOS is unknown.
I try reset FOS admin/root password in recovery console and accidentally block recovery console with unknown password...
Default password (fibranne, password, factory etc) for admin/root account is not work.
I could not find the email support HP and Serial # from my SAN Switch is not accepted in https://h50203.www5.hp.com/WCLWeb/WCLNoWarranty.aspx :(

If it doesn't have a warranty/contract it will most likely cost money for you to get HP to reset the password.
If you're locked out of recovery console you can't do much except asking for recovery key or using brute force..
