Re: replacing failed SAN disk with used disk from spare server ?

Which storage array are we talking about?

Different arrays take different types of disks.

Which server are we talking about?

Different servers take different types of disks.

Re: replacing failed SAN disk with used disk from spare server ?

it is quite old actually (I can't remember as I was just have a quick look in the Data Center).

I just wondering if the disk with the same model can be a solution for this ?

Thanks.

Re: replacing failed SAN disk with used disk from spare server ?

If the disk is the same model(check model number and spare numbers to be certain) and physically fits, then yes, it should work.

but... Make certain it has the same FirmWare as the disks already in the SAN.
(Mismatched FW can cause problems... )

Re: replacing failed SAN disk with used disk from spare server ?

yes from the outer casing it says

72.8 GB Ultra 320 SCSI 10K rpm which is the same from the outside as in the broken one, any other make or model is negligible as long as the drive can fit in I guess.

I would never use a used disk on a SAN. You don't know how long it will last. If its having issues.
