In Windows device manager, check under SCSI devices.
You must see the EVA, as many times as you have path's (Fibers into the EVA)

Re: 'rescan' EVA8000 hardware bus ? can't see any enclosures any more

it's almost impossible to sensibly see this information under device manager -> scsi devices.

i have 10 EVAs attached to this instance of command view - at best i can differentiate between 8x00 and HSV400 but that's about it.

see attached screenshot/cap.

I see :)

You know how many 8000's, 8100's and 8400's you have got.

so count how many 8x00's.
Devide by 8, and it shoul match the no of EVA's.

You could do a re-scan in device manager.
It won't don any harm, and it might work.

Re: 'rescan' EVA8000 hardware bus ? can't see any enclosures any more

i'll try but frankly i don't see it as logical because i can talk TO the eva with no issues.

the EVA itself seems to have issues with talking to its enclosures/disks from a different level.

as such, i don't think rescanning how command view talks to the eva will make too much difference ?

or is my logic wrong (please feel free to correct/enlighten me)

Re: 'rescan' EVA8000 hardware bus ? can't see any enclosures any more

if you'r 100% that you really talk to the EVA.
Then you're right it's not the issue.

But cached data in the browser can mislead you.
So you really have to be sure, that you are in contact with the EVA, from the management server.

Got a reply from a HP engineer and it looks like a restart of the master controller. fun fun.

Will let you know how i go, assuming i get a change control request approved to do it tomorrow.

Re: 'rescan' EVA8000 hardware bus ? can't see any enclosures any more

i have another eva8000 that has a 'phantom' disk drive in unmappable hardware so i'm hoping IT doesn't need a reboot also.

was ungrouping and then moving drives from one array into another - one disk doesn't want to leave the array! (i.e it doesn't exist in the array, but it seems to think it does)
