We're having power issues (one of the two power-feeds is gone) and now the EVA8000 has been beeping all morning long. I appreciate the "sense of urgency" this gives, but is it possible to silence the machine for a while ?

Solution
That can be done on the enclosure EMU:
Muting or unmuting the audible alarm
You may want to mute the alarm in the following situations:
├в ┬в The error does not require immediate corrective action.
├в ┬в You cannot correct the error at this time. For example, the error may require a replacement part.
To mute the audible alarm:
NOTE:
Er is displayed in the alphanumeric display when an error condition is present.
1. Press and hold the bottom push-button until the status indicator is On.
A muted alarm will remain off until a new condition report exists.
2. To unmute the alarm, press and hold the bottom push-button until the status indicator is Off. When a new error condition occurs, the alarm will sound.
