upgrading EVA4100 to 600GB drives ?

Hello, I have few questions related to upgrading capacity for EVA4100:
- Does EVA4100 supports 600GB FC drives ?
- what "unkited upgrade for CV" means in plain english ?
- what is best way to upgrade capacity in same drive cage ?

Where do you find the reference of "unkited upgrade for CV"

What's the firmware version of XCS on the EVA4100?

Re: upgrading EVA4100 to 600GB drives ?

I got this "unkited upgrade for CV" from one HP employee who helped me out quickly by pointing to right director.

No, I don't know what is XCS version now but I can find it out tomorrow as well as version of CV? Any particular reason for asking of this ?

Re: upgrading EVA4100 to 600GB drives ?

Based on the release notes for the HDD Firmware bundle...

the 600GB drives looks to be a supported option on the EVA4100.

I can not seem to find any definitive answer though.

What version of XCS is on your EVA?

How many disk slots do you have available?

Re: upgrading EVA4100 to 600GB drives ?

I have one drive cage with 8x146GB but I am planning just to replace existing drives without adding second cage. I do have option of one day downtime.

Will port versions of firmware tomorrow since I can't see it from home.

Re: upgrading EVA4100 to 600GB drives ?

We are asking because support will be dependant upon the version you have.

with only 8 disks, you have 6 slots free.

Theoretically, you can install 6 drives, add them to the disk group, and once it is done leveling, remove some of the older disks... let it level...add in the rest of the 600's... let it level... etc.

Re: upgrading EVA4100 to 600GB drives ?

I'll have to check, but you will probably need to upgrade the XCS to 6.220, and Command View to 9.1

Both are customer installable, but definitely need to be planned out...

XCS:

Command View 9.1:

With XCS v6.110, 600GB 10K and 15K drives are supported with the minimum drive firmware versions mentioned at
