So far I have found some conversation in this forum, but nothing official.

SolutionThere are no public available documents on the hp recommended preferred path policy in vSphere.
If you have access to CSN you can find documents regarding Round Robin setting on vSphere.
Since vSphere is ALUA aware the optimal PSP is Round Robin.
Check CSN for this document: emr_na-c01836893-1

Re: vSphere and EVA configuration guide
I am aware of the ALUA compliance and Round Robin setting, but still looking for an official best practise.

Re: vSphere and EVA configuration guide
maybe you found this document in the meantime. If not, you'll find some answers...
http://h20195.www2.hp.com/v2/getdocument.aspx?docname=4AA1-2185ENW.pdf
* Round robin I/O path policy is the recommended setting for EVA active-active arrays. (remark: EVA4x00, 6x00, 8x00 are A-A. EVA3000 or 5000 are not supported, even with A-A VCS4)
* Change the default PSP for the VMW_SATP_ALUA from VMW_PSP_MRU to VMW_PSP_RR
vSphere CLI only:
esxcli nmp satp setdefaultpsp --satp VMW_SATP_ALUA --psp VMW_PSP_RR
* Update the advanced configuration parameter for the VMW_PSP_RR
esxcli nmp round robin setconfig --type "iops" --iops 1 --device naa.xxxxxxxxx
You will find a script to perform this on all LUNs.
