HPE Insight CMU v8.0 is now available on "HPE Software Updates and Licensing" site


A new version of HPE Insight CMU v8.0 is now available for download on the "HPE Software Updates and Licensing" site - Go to Hewlett Packard Enterprise Support Center http://www.hpe.com/support/hpesc and click "Software updates and licensing" link

**IMPORTANT** : Customers upgrading from HP Insight CMU v7.3.2 or earlier versions of Insight CMU to v8.0 must obtain new license keys. The Insight CMU license key format changed with v8.0. Keys for v7.3.2 or earlier versions do not work with HPE Insight CMU v8.0 and later versions.

If you have an active Insight CMU support contract, please go to Hewlett Packard Enterprise Support Center http://www.hpe.com/support/hpesc and click "Software updates and licensing" link to obtain the new license keys.

**IMPORTANT ** : If you install/upgrade to HPE Insight CMU v8.0, DO NOT install the patches for older CMU versions (v7.3.2 or v7.3 or v7.2). All the patches for older CMU versions (v7.3.2 or v7.3 or v7.2 etc..) are already included in the latest HPE Insight CMU v8.0.

**IMPORTANT ** : Official support for Insight CMU 7.3 is discontinued with the release of v8.0.
Insight CMU v7.3.2 and v8.0 are the officially supported versions.

New Operating system & Hardware Support in HPE Insight CMU v8.0:

- HPE ProLiant Moonshot server m710p is supported
- SLES 12 is supported on management node also. (However, btrfs filesystem backup/cloning is not supported)

IMPORTANT: All OS minor releases, updates, and service packs (for example, RHEL7 Update2,
, SLES12 SP1) of a given OS major version (RHEL7 or SLES12) are supported. The Insight
CMU team regularly qualifies and delivers patches (if needed) for new OS minor releases, as
they become available.

HPE Insight CMU v8.0 Highlights:

----------------------------------------

- Logical Volume Manager (LVM) support for the cloning engine.

- 4000 Scaling limitation is removed.

- Improved cloning performance for small deployments. (The maximum default is 16)

- Windows deployment no longer requires the backup image to fit in the RAM of servers being cloned.

- This release has a large (50+) usability improvements like by improving user messages, early warning detections etc

- The terms logical group, network entity, user group, and cmu network have been replaced with Image Group, Network Group, Custom Group and CMU NetBoot OS respectively
in both the CLI and GUI

- Support clusters of nodes connected to the management node across multiple networks.

- Added Redfish/REST power control to ILOCM BMC to support newer chassis firmware and improve power times.

- New Node and Group Custom Features API (formerly Node Static Data). Administrators can now add, delete, display, and compare additional node or group static information.

- A stronger (non-anonymous) cipher suite is used for GUI to management node network communication (RMI).

- Support for Insight CMU REST API v1. This version supports node and group management operations.

How to download HPE Insight CMU v8.0 DVD ISO from the "Software Updates and Licensing" site:

If customer has an active Insight CMU support contract, then go to Hewlett Packard Enterprise Support Center http://www.hpe.com/support/hpesc and click "Software updates and licensing" link

Step 1: You need to login into "Software Updates and Licensing" portal via HP Passport account. If you don't have passport account , please create and login.
Step 2: You will land onto "Software updates and Licensing" home page where it shows "Select an SAID" or "Directly enter an SAID"
Step 3: Enter the SAID number and check "terms and conditions" checkbox and finally click "View available products"
Step 4: You will be redirected to "Software Updates and Licensing - product list" page. List of products associated with the given SAID number will be displayed.
Step 5: Choose your product from the drop-down list "Show a single category/ product center".
Step 6: All your products are displayed in this page. You need to select the product and click on "Get software updates" link.
Step 7: Then, You will be redirected to "Software Updates and Licensing - downloads" page. If you want to download software, click on "Get Software" link.
Step 8: Select the relevant "Software" i.e., “HPE Insight CMU v8.0 DVD” and click "Download" link (or) "Use HPE Download Manager".

How to download Insight CMU v8.0 Patches from HPE Support Center:

Step 1: Go to https://h20566.www2.hpe.com/portal/site/hpsc/public
Step 2: "Sign-in" via HP Passport credentials.
Step 3: Under "Product Support" Tab, click "Download Options" in the left-hand column of the web-page, and then click the "Patch Management" link.
Step 4: You will be redirected to "Welcome to Patch Management" page. If you don't see "Welcome to Patch Management" page, please contact HPE Support Center.
NOTE: You must have an active software updates support agreement in your HP Enterprise Support Center profile in order to access Patch management.
Step 5: Click on "Find patches by product" (middle of the page); then click on "Cluster Management Utility".
Step 6: Add Patches of "Insight Cluster Management Utility V8.0" to the download basket and click "Download Selected".
