OneView VM crash and appliance is not accessible

Hi,

Setup:

NFV  [which has rackmount servers managed by OneView]

Software which is running on top is a OpenStack cloud.

Issue Description:

We have an NFV setup which uses OneView [linux based] version 1.2 . The appliance VM suffered a crash and we are unable to bring it back.  So we re-installed OV . We need to add the servers to be managed by OneView. We would like to know the chanllenges invloved.

As per my understanding, the below steps is what we should be following:

  1. Shutdown all applications and VMs which is running in cloud level [Openstack]
  2. Shutdown the servers .
  3. Add the servers in OV
  4. Create server profiles [with required BIOS settings etc..] .
  5. Assign server profiles.

I have been told about issues which can happen due to Virtual MAC mismatch, compliance issues, certificate issues etc..

In such case, what is the best way to add these servers to be managed by OV without re-install?

Else, is it possible to recover the server profiles from the OV database by mounting the QCOW2 using guestmount or libguestfs?

Regards,

Novel

What hardware platform are you using?  Did you backup your appliance prior to losing it?  Can you please clarify by what you mean:
