APC UPS to initiate a graceful shut down of Simpivity
Can an APC UPS initiate a graceful shutdown of a Simplivity host as it does with a normal ESX host? I know that shutting down a Simplivity host gracefully, first requires the OVC to be shutdown using the Simplivity menu. Thanks

Re: APC UPS to initiate a graceful shut down of Simpivity
Hi @JN3,
The only limitation here would be whether or not APC UPS has a CLI outlet to set up scripts to perform your required actions in the event of an outage. You can easily issue a safe simplivity shutdown 'svt-shutdown-safe' and allocate a period a time to allow the process to complete before moving forward with the ESXi host itself.
I hope this helps,
I work for HPE

Re: APC UPS to initiate a graceful shut down of Simpivity
You can also try initiating the shutdown using the REST API but please be aware that only 3.7.6 and newer releases support this
You can find more information here: https://developer.hpe.com/platform/hpe-simplivity/whats-new
Possible commands to try:
POST shutdown_virtual_controller
POST cancel_virtual_controller_shutdown
GET virtual_controller_shutdown_status
I`m not very experienced in REST API so you`ll need to check it out. Hope this helps further!
