How to Siplit Single-Simplivity-Datacenter into 2 datacenters and move half of the clusters

Hi

We a Simplivity setup containing 1 Vcenter, 1 Datacenter with 4 clusters, all the ESXi hosts in these clusters are physcally located in the same Server rack.

Because of the organizational changes, 2 of these Clusters and the VMs running in these 2 clusters will be managed by another operations-team.

To support the Segregation of the duities, we would like to create a new datacenter in the same Vsphere and move 2 of the clusters to the new datacenter, and delegate permissions to the new Operations team on the new Datacenter, so that they can perform day to day tasks like, Create VM from templates, move the VMs to different hosts etc. without seing the VMs in the first datacenter that was created from the begining.

According to the VMware documentation this is a very simple task but what is the supported way of doing this in Simplivity?

Thanks

Hi Harun,

We would recommend you to re-deploy the cluster if a new datacenter is to be created within the vCenter, reason being a simple addition  may keep the old failure domain in the database of SimpliVity.

So, kindly take necessary steps to re-deploy the nodes in the new datacenter.
