Upgrade Manager stuck on Firmware : Waiting for upgrade to start
Hello, upgrading from 4.0.1 to 4.1.0.266 for vsphere, ovc and firmware.
I can't explain why the host is stuck on Waiting for upgrade to start. Iso is well mounted on the virtual media. Log do not rise errors...
All files are in the same folder than the upgrade manager and well detected. I've opened a case the support but no news for the moment. If you have any advices...
I hesitate to reboot the host on the ISO file to "force" the SimpliVity SPP to apply.
Best Regards,
Jean-Philippe.

Re: Upgrade Manager stuck on Firmware : Waiting for upgrade to start
here is an extract of the orchestrator log in Users\user\AppData\Local\UpgradeManager.
No errors but stuck since hours and hours on the upgrade process. Wasting so much time. We can see that the firmware package is well recognized

Re: Upgrade Manager stuck on Firmware : Waiting for upgrade to start
Update : In progress with the SimpliVity support. Maybe the issue is comming from network port segmentation. Upgrade Manager require some different port to upgrade Firmware than to upgrade OVC and VMWARE.
Firmware are updated throught ILO (Upgrade Manager is just a kind of shortcut to make life easier) when OVC and VMWARE are updated trought vCenter network if I'm right.
Was asking myself if it was possible to upgrade firmware like on standard Proliant server => Answer is YES.
So do not fear to close the Upgrade Manager if nothing is processing, you can upgrade firmware from you side, relaunch the Upgrade Manager, the Inventory will detect what have been already updated and you can continue to upgrade OVC and VMWARE for instance. Mind also that if you not commit immediately it is okay, you can continue later and once all nodes are up to date you can commit (it only concern the OVC) to benefit from the new features.
Hope it can help.
Regards,
Jean-Philippe

Re: Upgrade Manager stuck on Firmware : Waiting for upgrade to start
Hello @J-Philippe
Two things that I would suggest doing that worked for me in the past.
1. Try resetting the iLO. From the iLO web page, click on "Diagnostics" tab and you will find the button to reset iLO. You will lose connectivity temporarily.
2. This could be a Windows Firewall issue, try disabling the firewall completely and then test the upgrade.

Re: Upgrade Manager stuck on Firmware : Waiting for upgrade to start
Some new firewall rules have been set in the meantime. Using the Upgrade Manager to perform OVC and VMWARE from one side and on the other side using the classic way by booting the server on the SPP iso did the job perfectly.
Best regards
