Fabric extension

Hello Guys

is there anyone who have experience with fabric expansion.?

The configuration is the follow:

2 FC switch SN3000B (no power pack license)  existing solution

2 FC switch SN3600 power pack  new switch

Can I expand my fabric using SN3000 and SN3600 switch together?

I'm going to buy power pack license for the older switch .

Can I use 16GB SFP for the ISL?

Is this correct?

hi

no problem to expand the fabric if you connect a new switch to an existing one all you need to do is make sure that each switch has a unique domain ID.

the basic licnese allows you to connect the switches between them once connected the new switch will take the zonning configuration from the old switch.

it's best to have all switches with the same FOS version and the speed is not important. as long as the SFP is supported by the switch.

power pack gives extra stuff like ISL trunking but it is not needed for basic fabric.

As your answer, we don't need to buy fabric license for the old and the new switches to expand our fabric.

the new configuration will be the following:

fabric1: 1 switch SN3000B + 1 swicth SN3600B

fabric1: 2 switch SN3000B + 1 swicth SN3600B

obviously, I have to change my domain ID on the new switches.

Hi

untill now fabric license was included by HPE in the basic switch license.

you change the domain ID on the new switches because changing domain ID 

disables the switch.

then you connect one port from the exsisting switch to the new one. if all

is well you can see this port becomes an E-port (switchshow). any connection error will be shown by the port status.

if all is well you will see your fabric "fabricshow".
