2-way Replication

We currently have 2 LeftHand P4300 units, configured in RAID10, each serving out 1TB thinly provisioned volume.

Both are in separate management groups (configured prior to me) so there is no replication. What steps do we need to take to get both volumes in a single management group with 2-way replication?

Re: 2-way Replication

Remote copy from one to the management group you want to keep.

Fail the volumes over.

Remove from old management group, add to new management group.

Then reset the network raid level for each volume.

You need to make sure all of your ISCSI initiators are referencing both VIPs.

Would you happen to have specific steps for the remote copy step?

And if i'm not mistaken, in a 2-node configuration you would also need a virtual manager.

Re: 2-way Replication

Are you intending this to be a multi-site san, or a single site SAN?

Re: 2-way Replication

Yes you should have a Failover Manager (automatic) or a Virtual manager to maintain a quorum.

This HP doc shows the requirements for remote copy in detail.

Re: 2-way Replication

It's really unknown at this point. It depends on what the client needs. At the moment we have both storage nodes in a single location, but in separate management groups. There is a potential for additional nodes at a separate site.
