Additional NIC on VSA

We have HP VSA installed on VMWare ESXi 4.1.0 server. We are trying to add the second NIC for dedicated iSCSI traffic. After we have added the second NIC to VSA VM, we can not see it in CMC or VSA console. How can we enable this second NIC?

Re: Additional NIC on VSA

Hi All,

I've got a similar setup and I'd like to to be able to add the eth1 to the already eth0 on the VSA.

Digging through the HP docs. I can't seem to see how to do it....

The VSA manual talks about supporting a second NIC but not how to add it.....

Any advice anybody????

Re: Additional NIC on VSA

I simply added a second "flexible" network adapter, and my VSA shows 2 NICs within the CMC.

I'm running VSA v 8.5 on vSphere 4.1
I have not yet tested this with SAN/iQ 9

Re: Additional NIC on VSA

Thanks for your reply!
We are using VSA version 9.0.00.3561.0. May be we must run utility like Linux Kudzu to detect additional NIC? Is this possible to login to VSA shell?

Re: Additional NIC on VSA

With 8.5 you would enable the nic through the console on the VM. I'm not sure about 9.0.

Re: Additional NIC on VSA

The shell on the VSA is locked down. You cannot access it (only HP support can access the shell or root level on a VSA).

You should just have to add the Nic to the VMware configuration and reboot.

When you added the NIC did you make sure it was "flexible" and not E1000?

Teledata, thank you!
We tried to add wrong NIC type (E1000)...
