Hi Sud,

I followed this document to install the VSA.

Which is great but doesn't show you how to configure a second interface on the VSA itself.

What I'm trying to achieve is a management interface and a separare interface for the actual SAN traffic itself.

I struggling to understand why this hasn't made into the VSA deployment manual?

Cheers,
Sean

Re: Configure a 2nd interface on the HP VSA

Sean,

The way we have it configured is the first NIC goes to a physical switch dedicated to iSCSI traffic only. The VSA is assigned to this nic / vSwitch which we also assigned an iSCSI VMkernal to.

The second NIC connects to our LAN and contains our service console as well as the other virtual severs (Non-VSA.)

If you are asking about load balancing and fail over, that is indeed covered in the manual but I have not set it up in our environment.

Hi Chad,

I'm trying to get to your configuration.

I'd like the iSCSI over one interface linked to one vswitch and the management linked to another interface.

I'm not after a load balanced or fail over configuration.

Thanks in advance,

Sean

Re: Configure a 2nd interface on the HP VSA

Hi All,

I'm figured it out myself.

Add a 2nd interface to the VSA.

It will come up as a e1000.

The VSA doesn't like that so it will ignore it.

What you need to do:

Turn off the VSA

1) Log into the host that has the VSA installed.
2) Drill down to the VSA in the VMFS volume.
3) Edit the VMX file. Your looking at the end of the file.

Change ethernet1.virtualDev = "e1000" to
ethernet1.virtualDev = "vlance"

Save the file. Remove from inventory.

Then re-add it to the inventory.

Jone done...

TTFN :-)
