Number VM guests to a LUN

VMware ESXI 5.1, P4300. After review of Queue depth recommendations only raise more questions to what is for best layout of LUNS. Does HP have sizing whitepaper for Number of VM’s to LUN?

A one to one VM to LUN is  impractical and would be a nightmare to manage, then with VMware now supporting up to 64 TB LUN. What is HP’s recommended sizing recommendations?

VSphere 5 Storage Enhancements for P4000

With VMware’s vSphere Storage APIs for Array Integration (VAAI) locking Atomic Test and Set (ATS) new best practice recommendations suggest that up to ninety (96) virtual machines will function on a single volume. Volumes with twenty-four (24) to forty-eight (48) virtual machines are less likely to impact VM performance. These VMs are highly dependent upon I/O workload patterns as well as other variables.

Keep in mind that it is better to have more volumes to improve performance.

Also remember to implement multipath to improve performance
