Purchasing P4000 VSA software

I've got a few DL320s and was wondering if i purchase the VSA software is it the same has the P4300 (just different hardware)?

Is the P4300 just a DL3** G* running the VSA software?

Thanks

Re: Purchasing P4000 VSA software

VSA is simply a virtualized Operating System.

In this case, SAN/iQ.

the "VSA" doesn't run on a P4300... it runs as a virtual machine on top of a hypervisor.

SAN/iQ runs on physical hardware.

Well you could install ESXi to them and then run VSA on top of that. Few VSA licenses costs about same as P4300 starter kit so it is pretty pointless. Also you would loose on performance.

Re: Purchasing P4000 VSA software

Why not download ESXi and the VSA software and give it a try?

You'll get all the features for 30 days.

We have a P4500 G2 virtualisation SAN which comes with 10x VSA licenses which we intend to use some of as a DR/backup cluster.
