Switch Port Oversubscription

This may be a public service announcement more than a question, but wanted to know if anybody has run into port oversubscription on their switch uplink ports to their P4000s. We had some older Cisco 48 port GigE blades our P4000 used to connect to that are oversubscribed 8 to 1. Running a “show interface summary” revealed several output queue packet drops. We have since upgraded our links to full non-blocking GigE ports. This may have added stress to some already buggy SATA controller code that caused one of our nodes to go off-line.
Lesson learned: Just because the GigE link light turns green, doesn’t mean it’s truly a Gig...
