Using additional NICs for P4500
Hello,
I know that the best practice would be to upgrade to 10GB cards, however is it possible to add an additional dual gigabit NIC card on the P4500 and have 4 gigabit interfaces to use?

Re: Using additional NICs for P4500
I have not seen anything in the Best Practices docs or guides on this.
However, I don't see why it wouldn't work.
Just remember to add more RAM to the NSM.
The standard 10GB kit includes 4GB of memory in addition to the NC550SFP card.
How are you thinking of using this card?
A separate additional bond, or a four NIC bond with the existing LOM NICs?

Re: Using additional NICs for P4500
Hello,
a_o: We are thinking about adding a secondary bond to the storage unit, to a separate switch. The unit currently has 48GB or RAM so it has enough RAM, the additional NIC card is shown during BIOS POST screens (before the controller information), however it is not recognized in the CMC (or I just can't find how to add it there).
Emilo: This is a G2 unit, sorry for not mentioning that earlier.
Sincerely,
George

Re: Using additional NICs for P4500
I think they frown upon stuffing your own parts into the servers, since they would have to support that.
You can run a 10gbit card at gigabit speed, if you want to put an approved nic into the server.
