Windows 2012 iSCSI connection not automatically remounting after system reboot

Hello --

One of our servers is running the Windows 2012 R2 Standard 64-bit distribution. It is connected to a cluster of four, 4, P4500G2 nodes. There are six, 6, volumes assigned to the server in question, and all are running Network RAID-5 as their Data Protection level.

The Windows 2012 iSCSI Initiator has been used to establish the mounted volumes on the server. A scheduled reboot, via the Task Scheduler, was done this past Sunday. The command syntax used for the reboot was the following:

C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /r /f /m \\<servername> /t 60 /d p:4:1 /c "Scheduled reboot"

The reboot completed successfully, but one of the iSCSI volumes did not automatically remount, which resulted in the administrator having to interactively bring it back online.

Why would five out the six volumes mount correctly? Has anyone seen this issue, and know what step(s) can be done to prevent it from happening in the future?

Most likely because the option to automatically reconnect the drive wasn't selected on the server when it was setup initially.  For whatever reason it is not a default in windows.

Side note.  YOu said your LUNs are setup as NR5...  that is sooooo bad for production data.  read the HP guide.  NR5 is for archive data use.  Production data should be NR10 only.  I would change those LUNs to NR10 ASAP.
