.upgrade file not being found by CMC 9

Now that I have FTP turned off and the use local button for upgrades is available the AX696-10515.upgrade file that I have to update the storage nodes looks to be invalid. The response is "The directory does not contain the upgrades configuration file. Choose a directory that contains this file." Is another file required or what is the trick now?

The file you are mentioning does not seem to be part of the SANiQ 9 ftp download directory.

Is it an 8.5 patch file?

Re: .upgrade file not being found by CMC 9

perhaps I grabbed the wrong file, I got it from: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=4118668&prodTypeId=12169&prodSeriesId=4118659&swLang=13&taskId=135&swEnvOID=54

The top download. Do you have the direct ftp link to the files you listed above? I am sure that is what I need.

Hi Nick,

I had the exact same problem with those files.

I suggest you go to the following site: http://www.hp.com/go/P4000downloads

From there download the CMC 9 for installation on a machine which you can give a direct connection to the internet.

Then download the files by using the CMC.
When done you can copy the downloaded files to a USB stick and copy it to a machine that has CMC 9 installed and a connection to your Lefthand SAN devices.
Be prepaired to download 4GB of data when you start downloading the files by CMC. (You get all the previous versions as well)

Good luck.

Michiel

OMG this is shocking dont they actually test this stuff works ? why provide the complete update file if they dont supply the xml file that goes with the firmware to be able to do the upgrade !

Re: .upgrade file not being found by CMC 9

I tried getting the files from the FTP, making my own updates.xml file, etc, with no luck. I even got a HP engineer to send me a completely up to date updates.xml file.

I'm not even sure why these patches are on the HP downloads site, since they are unusable.

Docs are so out of date for this product too it's silly.

Re: .upgrade file not being found by CMC 9

I am not sure why you would risk your SAN Upgrade by modifying the upgrades.xml

Anyway you can find the latest upgrades.xml at ftp://up_p4k:Extreme1@ftp.usa.hp.com

The reason there are so many files on the FTP and for the downloads is bcoz it caters to all versions of SANiQ.

Hopefully in the later versions we can download files based on the current SANiQ versions, hence reducing the amount and size of the download.
