Additional logical interconnect group to existing enclosure group

Hi All,

I'm a new admin and I'm in the process of learning about synergy. Currently I want to configure an additional logical interconnect group and I have a few questions that I hope you can explain:

1. How to configure logical interconnect correctly.

2. Does the system have any effect during configuration?

3. What do I need to prepare before configuring?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thank you!

Re: Query: Additional logical interconnect group to existing enclosure group

Thank you for replied!

I am planning to add logical interconnect group.

I have a few questions:

1. After adding LIG to the Enclosure group. Should I use "Re-apply Logical Enclosure" or "Update from Team" to complete the configuration.

2. According to userguide, using "Update from group" will cause system interruption. What about "Re-apply Logical Enclosure", does it cause system interruption?

Thanks!

Re: Query: Additional logical interconnect group to existing enclosure group

Hi namdh969, To configure a new logical interconnect, you need the appropriate hardware for the desired configuration.

If you already have an existing logical interconnect ( LI ) which is linked to a logical interconnect group (template), and have no plans of adding any new hardware (interconnects) then you cannot create any new LI. You can however edit the existing configuration as per your need.

Note : A LI is basically a configuration set for a 'set of physical interconnects'.

Re: Query: Additional logical interconnect group to existing enclosure group

Adding a new LIG to and Enclosure Group does not effect existing LI unless the new LIG is replacing the existing LIG in the EG.

Example

EG = Name1

LIG = Name2

Applied LIG to EG to Interconnect Bay 3/6 (Redundant)

You now have LI = Name1.Name2

-------

Now you create a New LIG

LIG = Name3

Applied new LIG to EG to Interconnect Bay 2/5 (Redundant)

Then because EG & LE are Inconsistent you have to go to the LE and Update From Group. (to make consistent)

When you do that you now have a new LI  = Name1.Name3

Existing LI = Name1.Name2 is not touched. It is not deleted, it is not recreated, it is a NO OP.

Now you have:

EG = Name1

LIG = Name2

LIG = Name3

LI  = Name1.Name2    (3/6)

LI  = Name1.Name3    (2/5)

--------

So there is a difference in Adding a new LIG to a EG vs. modfiy the existing LIG in the EG.
