HP Helion - Synergy Openstack using d3940

I've decided to pursue the Openstack option using Synergy and DAS with the d3940.  Here is the exploded view:

My first question has to do with the Openstack nodes depicted above in Green Yellow and Blue.  Is it necessary to designate a pair for each function?  Or is a single controller node possible, and group three together for compute nodes?

Re: HP Helion - Synergy Openstack using d3940

Yesterday I had a meeting with HPE and 2 engineers were on the phone along with 2 sales.  I learned a few things that are pertinent to this discussion.

1. In order to form a cluster a quorum of 3 nodes must be present for both contol and storage functions.  This means that the answer to my first question looks like this.

I can see that I am going to need to populate with 8 nodes.  The yellow nodes will be handling Compute, and therefore will need to be the fastest and most powerful.  But what kind of power is required of the controller (blue) and the storage (green) nodes?
