HPE Synergy: Logical JBOD's cannot be shared across multiple servers
Logical JBOD's created by using disks from D3940 Storage Module cannot be shared across multiple servers from the Hardware Layer. Ownership of a given Logical JBOD lies with a single Smart Array Controller.
A logical JBOD can be associated with only one server profile. An attempt to attach the same logical drive to multiple server profiles causes the creation of multiple logical JBODS with the name starting with similar to the 1st Logical JBOD however oneview adds numbers to the logical JBODs at the end which makes them unique with different set of disks from the storage module.
Server Profile Template allows to create and attach a new Logical JBOD, however an already existing Logical JBOD cannot be attached to a server profile template. An Exising Logical JBOD can be added only to a server profile.
Sharing the Disks across multiple nodes can be performed only on the software layer. One can use the traditional methods like NFS or VSA or Software Defined Storage Solutions like CEPH to share the storage from D3940 Storage.

Re: HPE Synergy: Logical JBOD's cannot be shared across multiple servers
Hello msuresh,
With D3940, we cannot share the same Drives to multiple servers.
The mapping of the Drives specific to Server profile and it can access to that particular server.
This is expected behaviour.
Regards,
