Quick Tips to Erase SSD and HDD Drives from D3940 Storage Module in HPE Synergy
Customers trying to re-use the Disks ( SSD & HDD ) from the D3940 Storage Module in HPE Synergy running VMware Hypervisor Clusters with VSAN enabled on them requires the Disks to be formatted before including them as part of the VMware VSAN Clusters.
Create a Logical JBOD with required number of Drives with "Erase on Delete" option selected. Creation of a Logical JBOD in Oneview takes only few mins. Deleting the recently created Logical JBOD triggers erasing the Drives. Smart Array Controller takes care of erasing the drives. On the SSD Drives only the Metadata of the Disk Drives are erased while the erase operation on the HDD wipes out the complete HDD.
Erase Operation results in complete and permanent loss of Data. Customer must use their discretion in using the Erase Operation to formats disks from D3940 Storage Module in HPE Synergy.
