Can HC 380 2.0 storage be shared to external physical server? (iSCSI perhaps?)

Hello all

Im a bit new to HyperConverged systems - want to know if an external (physical) server can make use of HC 380 2.0 storage. I read specs stating its leverages VSA, so maybe it can be done via iSCSI?? any comments? why yes / why not recommend?

Regards!

Mauricio

You question is a bit hard to figure out.  the HC380 V2 never came out.  It was slated to come out but with the SimpliVity purchase it was dropped and the SimpliVity solutions took over.

Now if you mean HC380 V1.1u2 which is the latest release out of the HC380 solution, then the answer is no.  So sure technically it can be done because it is iSCSI as you say.  But being an appliance it's storage is only supposed to be used by the appliance.  If you start using that storage by external servers that the UI doesn't know about you really start running into issues with the UI.  So the official answer is no, not supported.
