Can we produce the IMC appliance portable image.

Does anyone have the IMC 7.1 appliance ...?  Can we  avoid the installation of IMC   and use the IMC applicance which ready to use .?

Hi rajashankar,

No idea what you exactly mean but if you are asking for a fully functioning copy of IMC that does not have to be installed the answer is no. You will need to install IMC, license, register etc.

Maybe what he means is: Is there such a thing as an IMC appliance box or virtual appliance that can be used without any installation?

Below is all hypothetical!

Indeed, maybe like IMC on an external device like a USB stick in compact-mode could be interesting for quick analysis. However then you would run into some issues.

The license is bound to a physical MACaddress so that would not work on a CD/DVD, USB or VMimage because that is moved to diffeent HW with different MAC. Registring on a spoofed MAC might work but then you need to be able to spoof it every time.

Installing IMC on a movable device (server) then the MAC stays the same and you could bring the device to every different network, just remove the already discovered devices. This would be a good sollution for portable DEMO.

However is you want to move between live networks, you would still need to let IMC discover all network devices and that takes time, then configure what you want to see in IMC and what not. And that is only if the rest of the network is setup correctly for SNMP etc.
