Disable SNMP monitoring - Test Only ICMP
Hi,
I have some external internet links that i need to monitor only the ICMP status, to know if it's online or not.
The device is show as ICMP Model, but iMC is trying to send SNMP requests to this devices, i discovered it at my firewall logs.
There's a way to disable this monitoring ? Because it's generating unnecessary traffic.
Tks a lot !

Re: Disable SNMP monitoring - Test Only ICMP
What happens if you unset the SNMP community string on the Device Details page for that device?

Re: Disable SNMP monitoring - Test Only ICMP
It's not possible, it returns "At least one string must be specified" when I try to save wihout community.
There isn't an option to set "none" too, it's required to set snmpv1, v2 or v3...
Any other idea ?
Tks for your help !

Re: Disable SNMP monitoring - Test Only ICMP
Hmmm. Wondered if that might be the case. More research needed then...

Re: Disable SNMP monitoring - Test Only ICMP
I did a couple of quick tests. Doesn't seem to be any obvious way to do it.
You could change the SNMP retry/timeout policy to 1/1 for that device, and change the config poll interval to max (1500 mins). This _should_ reduce the amount of traffic, although not completely stop it. The actual volume of a few attempted SNMP polls will be pretty much irrelevant. The only place it might cause an annoyance is in firewall logs.
