HP IMC Issue

Hello everyone...

I got a minor issued here and please help.

My HP IMC cant ping devices but can telnet. Its detected as Critical Device ( Unreachability).

I just found out his config on device :-

hwping-agent enable
hwping imclinktopologypleaseignore ping
test-type icmp
destination-ip x.x.x.x (device IP)
frequency 270
send-trap probefailure

I undo this config but IMC still cant ping device. I delete device on Topology and re-add but the result cant ping device.

Please advice.

Re: HP IMC Issue

I am experiencing a similar issue.  I cannot ping a device using iMC's ping utility, but I can ping it using the command prompt on the same server that iMC is running on.  iMC shows other activity such as CPU usage, but I keep getting unreachability errors.  I disabled Disman ping, but that didnt change anything.

Re: HP IMC Issue

Verzah,

Strange.  I've not heard of that before.  The only thing I can think of is some kind of ACL or firewall blocking ICMP?

One option is to remove the device.  Then, before you add the device, remove "Support Ping Operation".

That shouldn't declare your device "Unreachable".

Re: HP IMC Issue

Hmm... what version of iMC are you running? I'm on 5.1 SP1 running on Windows 2008 R2 with firewall turned off, and I'm able to use iMC's ping utility.
