Having problems backuping Avaya ERS 4850 and ERS4950 configuration

----------[History What Was Done ]---------------------------------
(1) When discovering new switches, discovered as generic Nortel Network switches. Found tech artilce to manual add sysOID to IMC 'System->DeviceDefinition' database. Original set ERS4850 to 'Avaya' but while digging in the IMC server C:\Program Files\IMC\server\conf\adapters\ICC\Nortel networks folder, found '\NortelERS' folder. Switched ther ERS4850-series switch definition to Nortel Ethernet Routing Switch.

and
Model Name: Avaya ERS4950GTS-PWR-PLUS
sysOID: 1.3.6.1.4.1.45.3.82.4
Vendor: Avaya
(2) Configured the Avaya switch device settings...
- Set SSNMP v2 READ/WRITE -> Tested OK
- Set SSH using RADIUS auth to an AD acct -> Test OK
- Change Login Type from 'Telnet' to 'SSH'
- Change Web Management from http/80 to https/443
(3) In 'ConfigCenter -> Options', add Avaya ERS switches to TFTP transfer

(4) On IMC server, C:\Program Files\IMC\server\bin> plink.exe -P 22 mgmt-imc@192.168.2.80
The server's host key is not cached in the registry. You have no guarantee that the server is the computer you
think it is. The server's rsa2 key fingerprint is: ssh-rsa 2048 ae:95:ab:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
If you trust this host, enter "y" to add the key to PuTTY's cache and carry on connecting.
If you want to carry on connecting just once, without adding the key to the cache, enter "n".
If you do not trust this host, press Return to abandon the connection.
Store key in cache? (y/n) y
Using username "mgmt-imc".
mgmt-imc@192.168.2.80's password:
SW-STACK#
------------------------------------
So where do I go from here? I am sucessfully backing up HP Procurve, Cisco 3750 and Aruba Controllers. Have not been able to backup the new Avaya ERS switches and Adtran routers.
Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks out to Lindsay Hall and Michael McNamara for their contributions regarding IMC and Avaya.
Any documentation for creating custom IMC adapters?

Re: Having problems backuping Avaya ERS 4850 and ERS4950 configuration
Hi,
Look in the logfile (<IMC-InstalledDir>\Server\conf\log\imccfgbakdm) to get detailled information on the failure.
It is usually related to CLI issues.
Concerning the integration documentation the best I found is this white paper from Tomas Kubica.
https://www.netsvet.cz/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/hp-imc-customization-v0.28.pdf
The screeshots are a bite outdated, but the content is still relevant for IMC 7.2

Re: Having problems backuping Avaya ERS 4850 and ERS4950 configuration
Thank you Ray for IMC Customization link.
Could not upload the extract contents from the 'imccfgbakdm' log file as a text file. So created two two jpg's and attach in the first message. Did not think of just pasting into this message. Here it is below...
It would be nice if IMC had a script debugger in which to watch script execution send/responses in realtime to test and verify scripts.
Thanks,
Bob G..

Re: Having problems backuping Avaya ERS 4850 and ERS4950 configuration
(1) Also forgot to ask want is the 'DevID' variable referenced in the 'imccfgbakdm' log?
getDevAdapterName().DevID=830
(2) Notice this in imccfgbakdm' log which is using /NortelSwitch/ scripts...
Begin to exec: C:/Program Files/IMC/server/bin/../../server/conf/adapters/ICC/Nortel networks/NortelSwitch/enter_exec.tcl
and not custom device setup in IMC 'System->DeviceDefinition' database Original set ERS4850 to 'Avaya' but while digging in the IMC server C:\Program Files\IMC\server\conf\adapters\ICC\Nortel networks folder, found '\NortelERS' folder. Switched the ERS4850-series switch definition to Nortel Ethernet Routing Switch.
Model Name: Avaya ERS4850GTS-PWR-PLUS
sysOID: 1.3.6.1.4.1.45.3.78.2
Vendor: Nortel networks
(3) I am going to modify the Avaya ERS4850 Device Definition to 'Nortel Switch' and retest.

Re: Having problems backuping Avaya ERS 4850 and ERS4950 configuration
Can someone confirm if there is any relationship to 'System Resource Management -> Device Definitions' and the IMC servers C:\Program Files\IMC\server\conf\adapters\ICC\%vendor% scripts???
The more I look at the Configuration Backups, the process is driven by using the Resource's sysOID to match a defined sysOID in the C:\Program Files\IMC\server\conf\adapters\ICC\%vendor%\adapter-index.xml files. After a match is found, the corresponding sub folder's scripts are executed to do the actual configuration backup.
Correct?

Re: Having problems backuping Avaya ERS 4850 and ERS4950 configuration
hi, here are the files to save ERS Avaya/Extreme and Juniper FW: Nortel Networks & Juniper Networks
but you have to modify the adapter-index.xml files:
you must add the correct sysOID according to the brand of your equipment
like this one:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!--sysoid adapt adapter-->
<adapters>
<type name="CLI">
<default>NortelSwitch</default>
<adapter name="NortelSwitch">
<description>Nortel switch</description>
<sysoid>1.3.6.1.4.1.45.3.52.1</sysoid>
<sysoid>1.3.6.1.4.1.45.3.71.6</sysoid>
<sysoid>1.3.6.1.4.1.45.3.74.1</sysoid>

<sysoid>1.3.6.1.4.1.2272.210</sysoid> <==== new add & save.
after modifiying the files, you have to reboot IMC
and you can test it ! Enjoy
